The above photo and slide show below depict some of the 31 Chester County alumni and friends who gathered at Lincoln University on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 5:30 pm, to show interest and support for a Chester County chapter of the National Alumni Association (AALU). Then university president, Dr. Robert Jennings, and Mr. Robert Ingram, president of the Baltimore Metro Chapter, welcomed the group.
Dr. Jennings shared his vision for the university that included online learning, partnerships with 9 community colleges, establishment of satellite campus in Coatesville, PA, for a new undergraduate nursing program, learning centers in South Africa, India and Asia, a new master’s degree programs in Social Work and Environmental Green Initiatives, an annual energy conference, a new doctoral program in Educational Administration and Policy Studies as well as a strengthened relationship with the Barnes Foundation for majors in Art History, Art Education and new courses in Museum Operations.
All gathered agreed to present an application to the General Alumni Association of Lincoln University to re-activate the Chester County Chapter. The following persons were elected as interim officers for a term of one year: Carol Black '67, President; Gregory Roberts '83, Vice-President, Sharon Diggs '91, Secretary; Lloyd Asparagus '68, Treasurer; Rev. Tyrone Jones '89, Chaplain; Susan Pevar, Historian and Melanie Roberts '94, Membership Director. John Bakken '67, Carol Black '67 and Daniel Lee '68 volunteered to prepare a constitution and bylaws for chapter consideration at the next meeting.
Everyone also signed-up and agreed to serve on the following committees: Fundraising, Publicity, Community Service, Meeting Speakers and Activities, Mentoring/Networking, Scholarships/Awards, Student Recruitment and Website/Travel.
The next meetings for Chester County alumni in 2012-2013 were set for November 7, 2012, February 6, 2013 and May 8, 2013. All Chester County alumni and friends were welcome to attend.

The Petition to Re-Activate Chester County Chapter was approved by the national Alumni Association of Lincoln University at the General Meeting on October 27, 2012.
